Nalco celebrates Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti


Bhubaneswar:  Nalco Corporate SC/ST Employees Welfare Association, Bhubaneswar celebrated the 123rd birth anniversary of   Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, at Nalconagar, Bhubaneswar on April 14. In the morning, Shri Rajib Kumar Mishra, GM(H&A) and              Shri Amiya Kumar Patnaik, GM(H&A), Nalco along with the representatives and members of various unions and associations, Nalconians and their family members paid their tribute to Dr. Ambedkar and garlanded the statue at Association Office premises Nalconagar, Bhubaneswar.

In a separate function organized in the evening at Mahanadi Nivas auditorium, Nalconagar Shri Ansuman Das, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Nalco, graced the occasion as the chief guest and Shri S.C.Padhy, Director (HR) & Shri A.K.Sahu, Executive Director (H&A) of Nalco, as the guest of honour, while Shri P.C.Mallick,          Ex-Principal, Panchayat College, Baragarh and eminent scholar of Ambedkar Studies was the chief speaker on the occasion. The dignitaries lighted the ceremonial lamp and offered floral tribute at the portrait of  Dr. Ambedkar.

     At the outset, Shri Jatindra Naik, General Secretary of the association, delivered the welcome address, while Shri Santosh Kumar Sethi, President of the association presided over the function. The dignitaries spoke on the life and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries said that Dr. Ambedkar being the framer of Indian Constitution, showed an uncompromising respect for human dignity, an unquestioning commitment to equality and non-discrimination, and an abiding concern for the poor and the weak. He had took up the enormous challenge to unite the vast country with its great diversity, many languages and creeds within a common-bond of Constitutional justice on the great ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity and justice. Shri D. Sethi, Vice President of the association, proposed a vote of thanks.
To mark the occasion, various cultural programmes were also performed by the children of Nalconagar, Bhubaneswar. The function was well attended by members and office-bearers of the association, Nalconians and their family members.
